It is most suitable for women who are producing low levels of hormones for ovulation or who are not ovulating at all but have normal fallopian tubes and the male partner has a normal semen analysis.
WHAT MEDICATION IS USED FOR OVULATION INDUCTION?
Medications used in ovulation induction can include:
- Clomiphene Citrate (Clomid)
An oral medication used to induce ovulation in women who do not ovulate on their own by encouraging the body to produce more follicle stimulate hormone (FSH). Most commonly used if a woman has irregular or long menstrual cycles.
- Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)
Hormone injections of FSH can be used to stimulate the number of follicles that develop in the ovary and therefore the number of eggs that are ovulated during a cycle. Another hormone hCG may be used in injection form to trigger ovulation once the follicles have developed.

Ovulation Induction during Egg Development Period
1-2 months of birth control pill (Microgynon, Desolett, Ginera, etc.) can be used during the treatment preparation period. In some patient groups, birth control pills have the effect of regulating the response of the ovaries to the ovulation medications to be used later.
Various drugs are used to prevent spontaneous cracking of follicular cysts containing mature eggs in the stimulated ovaries. GnRH analogues and GnRH antagonists used for this purpose are used in combination with egg-stimulating drugs during certain periods of treatment within the rules of use.
In the meantime, follicular (eggs) that develop in the ovaries are followed by frequent ultrasonography (folliculometry) and hormonal examinations (E2 and P etc.). The doctor assesses all findings and determines the optimal time for egg collection.
In order to mature the eggs in follicles that have reached sufficient size, HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) is administered at the specified time and egg collection is performed after 34 – 36 hours.
In an average of 10%, the procedure should be terminated before the egg collection stage due to various reasons such as inadequate egg development, premature ovulation and undesirable changes in hormones.
