Your first appointment<\/h2>\n

Step 1: Meeting your Fertility Specialist<\/strong><\/h3>\n

At your first appointment with one of our\u00a0fertility specialists<\/strong>, your doctor will review your medical history, assess your general health, and arrange initial tests and investigations for you and your partner.<\/p>\n

In order to decide on the most appropriate treatment for you, your doctor needs to know as much as possible about the history of your infertility. You will be asked about your menstruation, any abnormal bleedings that you may have had, whether you have a history of infections in your reproductive system and whether you have had any abortions, pregnancies or surgical operations. Your husband will be asked whether he has suffered injuries or traumas to his\u00a0 genital system, whether he has had any operations or infections and what medication and treatment he has received. You will both be asked how long you have been trying to have a baby, how often you have sexual intercourse, whether you use contraception or not, and whether any members of your families have a congenital disorder.<\/p>\n

In order to decide on the most appropriate treatment for you, your doctor needs to know as much as possible about the history of your infertility. What to bring with you?<\/h3>\n

Please bring your marriage certificate, ID, passport and photos for your file, all your medical records including any x-rays, scans, gynaecological surgery reports and test results, records of any previous IVF attempts and any other relevant records.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

For women, depending on the level of testing already performed, the fertility specialist may order further pathology tests. For men, a blood test for hepatitis B and C, HIV and a\u00a0semen <\/dfn>analysis<\/strong> are all routinely conducted.<\/p>\n

Pre-pregnancy screening for some genetic conditions such as cystic fibrosis is available and can be discussed with your specialist.<\/p>\n

Other diagnostic tests may include some or all of the following:<\/p>\n

Blood tests for women<\/em><\/h4>\n

  • Rubella immunity (German measles),<\/li>\n
  • Chicken pox,<\/li>\n
  • Hepatitis B and C,<\/li>\n
  • HIV,<\/li>\n
  • Full blood count, checking your blood group, your thyroid status and<\/li>\n
  • Current pap smear (within last 2 years);<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Other fertility tests for women<\/em><\/h4>\n

    • Vaginal ultrasound to check for fibroids, polyps, ovarian cysts, and to act as a \u2018baseline\u2019 for reference during your treatment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Blood tests for men<\/em><\/h4>\n

      • HIV<\/li>\n
      • Hepatitis B and C<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Other fertility tests for men<\/em><\/h4>\n

        • Semen analysis to check for antibodies and any possible infection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Once we have the results of these tests, your fertility specialist will meet with you again to explain in detail your recommended treatment plan.<\/p>\n

          Step 2: Preparing for treatment<\/strong><\/h2>\n

          After your fertility specialist appointment, you will then meet with a nurse and administration team member, as well as being informed of the counselling services available to you, before you begin treatment.<\/p>\n

          Your fertility nurse<\/strong>\u00a0will explain what to expect in your upcoming IUI\/IVF\/ICSI treatment cycle, including any specific treatments, injection techniques and medications. Generally, it is best to arrange for the appointment to be about a week before you expect your period in the month that you plan to commence treatment, though a nurse will advise you of this ahead of time.<\/p>\n

          Our<\/strong>\u00a0administration team\u00a0<\/strong>will explain the costs associated with your treatment, and answer any questions you have related to these and the timing of payment.           A fertility counsellor<\/strong> is available to meet with you and your partner, to discuss the physical and emotional implications of your treatment. You may have already faced many frustrations, disappointments and investigations before coming to Biruni Internetional Hosp\u0131tal IVF Center. Your counsellor is here for you at every stage of your treatment, even at short notice, if you need to discuss things or explore ways of coping.<\/p>\n
